Hives medically termed as urticaria are symptoms of an allergic reaction in the body. Hives is characterized by numerous small, reddish protrusions on certain areas of the skin especially on the arms, thighs, legs, face and hands. These skin protrusions may disappear and reappear in a new place without any symptoms.
Allergic reaction leading to hives may be due to an allergen, certain medications, insect bites or due to a particular food. Symptoms of hives are reddish welts of different sizes and number, appearance and reappearance of welts on its own, burning and itching. Oatmeal is also used to treat hives by adding it to bath tub but is mainly used when hives have spread over a large area on the body especially the legs and lower body. Doing this once daily will start healing hives.
The itching and burning due to hives can also be reduced by applying a wet and cooled compress on the inflamed skin.This will also help to reduce the swelling and heal hives completely. do this therapy regularly for better and quicker results.
Aloe Vera gel when applied on the inflamed skin helps to reduce the inflammation and also gives a very cooling effect. It also prevents the re-occurrence of hives on other parts of the body.
