“The sun has been shining and the atmosphere is fabulous.”
Thursday’s show saw the hunter ponies take to the ring for their competitions, with the Hackney horses also showing what they could do.
In the food tent, demonstrations included perfect preserves from New Forest Biscotti, with presentations also from Susie Carter from Hampshire Fare and David Palmer from the Forest Lodge Hotel.
It was the turn of the young cattle handlers to show off their skills with local beef and dairy cattle also in the ring.
Woolly sheep were also presented their prizes with a parade of rare breeds in the afternoon and it was the day for the working horses to show their stuff followed by displays from the Solent Dog display team.
Family fun was found in the Discovery Zone where youngsters could build dens, scavenge and take part in wood adventures.
this year, 25,000 bees could also be seen in the exhibition hives in the bee tent while 75 crafts were demonstrated and 1,000 rabbits groomed ready for judging.
And for those wanting to indulge in a little retail therapy, there were hundreds of trade stands selling everything shoppers desire, with many items not available on the high street.
the craft tents and arcades enticed the hot crowds away from the heat briefly, with their handmade goodies such as jewellery, ceramics, bags, pictures, and candles.
